Good morning!
Today I began a 3 day cleanse. It is called “Fruit Flush” and Jay Robb designed it. I had no intention of looking for or doing a cleanse right now, but my grocery store was giving these books out for free, so I took one. I have always thought that Jay Robb has very high quality protein shakes, etc. . .so I decided to give it a whirl. My main goal right now is to rid my system of sugar and other toxins. I have been eating a lot of candy lately, which I know is not doing my body any big favors.
Day 1 is a high quality protein powder every 2 hours, which comes out to be 5 times throughout the day. Jay doesn’t push his product AT ALL, but I did buy it because it uses Stevia as a sweetener, and the only other ingredients are: Cold-processed cross-flow microfiltered whey protein isolate, natural flavor, xanthan gum, and lecithin. . .Good stuff! Dinner day 1 is 3-6 cups raw veggie salad and 3-6 oz of lean meat. . .or 4-8 scrambled egg whites. You also have your healthy oils here as dressing. . .and you can add lemon or lime juice. . .of course, you drink plenty of water throughout the day.
Day 2-3 is a serving of fruit every 2 hours, which comes out to be 5 servings throughout the day. He gives you a list of fruit to choose from, and the serving sizes are huge, such as two medium apples for one serving. Dinner these nights is 3-6 cups raw veggie salad with the same dressing as above, with 1 protein drink. . .this time with 5tbs of protein powder and 12 oz water.
That’s it! He also discussed that higher glycemic fruits can be consumed due to only eating one serving every two hours. . .fructose enters the bloodstream at a relatively slow rate, so your system is not overloaded with sugar.
I’ll keep you posted on how I am feeling. . .by the way, you are not supposed to do any heavy exercise while on this cleanse, the same as any other cleanse. I will probably be tired today and very energetic the remainder of the time. I am a little worried about running to the bathroom, as I am subbing all day Monday and Tuesday, day 2 and 3. If anyone wants more details, so you can try it, let me know.

It’s been awhile . . .This last week has been a busy one. Randy had to go out of town for work, and I had a full week of subbing. Monday started with junior high and teaching 4 math classes and a social studies class without a break in-between or prep time. . .I was looking forward to it, but was a bit worried about how I was going to get there at 7:45 am. Brennen usually wakes up around 7-7:30 am and his school is a good 50 minutes round trip for me. So, I skipped his nap Sunday, and he was out by 7:10 pm. Regardless, I still had to wake him at 6:30 am! Thank goodness he was in a great mood! This was sort of our routine all week, except for he did take his usual naps at school, which are early enough not to disrupt our nighttime routine too much.
Tuesday was upper elementary again, and Wednesday was kindergarten. At first, I was a bit apprehensive to teach kindergarten, but then I grew excited. By the end of the day, I absolutely LOVED kindergarten! It’s hard to be too objective because each school and its children are so unique, but these kids listened so well, and were not the out of control, totally hyper children that I had imagined. So, in this regard, subbing is turning out to be the great eye-opening experience that I thought it would be. Thursday was my only day off for the week. I kept Brennen home with me, and we ended up going into the coffee shop for three hours in the afternoon to close for one of the girls. B loves going there with me, and his job is to hand the customers candy. Friday I was at Trent Elementary. I had first grade in the morning, and second in the afternoon. These kids were sweet, but a handful to say the least. Like I said, each school has a different make up of children, and some are definitely more challenging than others. Next week I have a full week, four days of which I will be in the library/media center at Trent Elementary. I am so excited for this!!! Lorri Reilly (who has Patrick, born the same day as B) is a literacy teacher there, so we are looking forward to being in the same building.
Randy returned home last night, and got Brennen today. I am relishing the quietness as I type this; however, it is a bittersweet feeling. I was getting used to having him around every day.
I’m heading to church as usual in the morning, and hoping that the rest of the day is quiet. . .I intend on finishing my current book (Monster by Jonathon Kellerman), so I can start The Secret Life of Bees.

Never have I been so tired after work!! Here I was off for the next 6 days when I got a call at 10am today from a co-worker wondering if I could take her shift. . .Daycare was closed today for "staff day" and Randy is out of town. . . I couldn't reach Kristin or anyone either. . .I was about to say "no" but felt bad b/c this girl ALWAYS accommodates me when I need a day off, etc. . .So, I thought, how bad could it be to take Bren with me to work? It's only for 6 hours. . .right during his nap! So, I packed up movies, books, games, blankets, and a pillow, and off we went. All in all, he did GREAT! He had an absolute blast handing out candy to each customer, and they all loved him; but, let's face it. . .he needs his nap, and wanting all of the fun "coffee shop" food is not exactly a good combo with no sleep. By the end of the day, we were both more than ready to come home. As I predicted, he was asleep in the car on the way home within minutes of leaving the coffee shop. . .He is now asleep in bed, and I am praying that he stays that way!!!

It's 3 a.m. . .why the heck am I up? I've been up for an hour or so. . .
Anyway, Bren and I went to a neat party last night. Teresa and Keith were finally able to adopt Hailey (5) and Josh (3) after having them as foster kids for two years, and we all celebrated. What a lucky family. . .Bren had so much fun playing with them (as always), and he also hit it off with their cousin Kolby (4).
Well, I have to keep up with him tomorrow, so I had better be trying to go back to sleep.

I had a blast at the comp. It wasn't as glamorous as I thought, but fun anyway! The gross part is you can't shower past Thursday and that is using no soap!!! Then you are layered with like 10 coats of special tanner, and have tons of makeup on!!!! So, by the time you go out on stage, you look great (from far away :)), but feel gross, lol!!! The show was huge!! Looking back, it was a great experience, but if I would have known, I probably would have chosen something smaller for my first one. There were around 50 figure competitors in 4 classes. This makes it really competitive. Here in WA, the NPC has so many height classes, that there are less girls you are competing with directly, so it is a little less competitive.
I kind of wish that I would have done Wenatchee now b/c my friend Maria, who is 5'3" was the only one in her class, which meant she won and is now qualified to do nationals (which is the step before earning your pro card if you are lucky enough!). My other friend Lauri, who is around my height, took 3rd out of 4 girls in her height class in Wenatchee. If I would have been in her class, all five of us would have placed, and I think all 5 of us would have qualified for nationals. BTW, I think that both girls would have done well even in a big class!!! However, with the smaller classes, the atmosphere had to be more relaxed! So, that would have been kind of fun. I mean, I wouldn't have cared so much about placing or getting a trophy, but doing a national show would be a great experience.
After the morning part of KC, I was feeling like I never wanted to do it again. I was so tired, we had only got like 2 1/2 hours of sleep due to all of the tanning. I was also unhappy with my posing and I know that it hurt me a lot b/c I don't really have anyone over here to practice with enough. Once the night show rolled around, it was more relaxed and I had gotten to eat a little "bad" food, so I was feeling better!! Anyway, I came home so tired, mentally and physically, that I decided not to do Wenatchee. I mean I was so tired that it took effort to walk! I wish that I would have sucked it up and done it now, but oh well, I can't change that now.
So, I still have the bug and am pretty sure I will do some Spring shows. It is so much hard work. Some days I was working out 2-3 times. Also, the dieting is brutal!! It is a very self-consuming sport, and that is hard sometimes, but as a mom, I need to do something for myself. As hard as it is, I do like having a goal.
Vegas was a blast too! A different experience with no drinking and no good food, but it was fun. I didn't gamble a whole bunch either, which is different to me. We laid out at Mandalay Bay's pool, which is so nice and we went to TAO and Ghost Bar, which was really fun!!
Well, that’s my update for now. Last week I was totally relaxed: no workouts, except for one walk with Brennen, and no working out. This week, I’m back on track, and feeling great already!!! XOXO

I guess I lost track over here! I have been journaling over at MySpace and The Transformation Workshop, and kind of forgot about here!! If this is any indication of how things are going, it's 11:27 p.m. and I just finished an hour of cardio, lol!!! I was super tired today and only got in a half hour this morning, so I wanted to make it up tonight. Yesterday was 45 min. moderate cardio before breakfast, intensity leg day, and HIIT and and little extra moderate cardio last night. I only had about 40-50 carbs (not complex, even) yesterday, so no wonder I was tired today!!!
I can't believe that I leave for KC in less than a week. My last workout is Wednesday, and the whole week is going to be busy with tanning, hair removal, and details!!! It seems crazy that it is almost here. I also decided to do the Wenatchee show and have an email into Caroline at CCFitwear to see if she can make me a last-minute one-piece. I have a friend's one-piece that is absolutely gorgeous, but I don't think it fits right!!! My camera is not working, so I can't even get another opinion!!!!!
I'm off to shower and get some rest before I do this all again tomorrow!!
